Room to Read Earns Young Presidents' Organization SEN Philanthropy Award

Room to Read has been recognized by the Social Engagement Network (SEN) of the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO) with the SEN Philanthropy Award in the Corporate Philanthropy category. The YPO SEN Awards aim to discover and recognize innovative YPO members who are committed to advance the existing framework of business in the fields of inclusive sustainable-business, the environment and philanthropy. Erin Ganju, Room to Read’s CEO and co-founder, has been recognized as an outstanding YPO member whose philanthropic and charity initiatives bring measurable positive social, environmental, and employee impact.

The annual award is sponsored by SEN, a virtual network of members within Young Presidents' Organization, which connects business leaders with a shared commitment to philanthropic, humanitarian and social engagement endeavors. YPO is a not-for-profit, global network of young chief executives connected around the shared mission of becoming Better Leaders Through Education and Idea Exchange^TM. The 2014 award evaluated achievements in the categories of Inclusive Business and Community; Environment; Philanthropy and Leadership. Room to Read and the other winners have been recognized for going beyond the bottom line through programs that make social responsibility an equal partner with profits.

In granting the honor, SEN Chair Jim Kenefick said, “The SEN awards are a wonderful way to focus and honor the forward-thinking efforts and success of today’s business leaders and companies – all with their eyes on the triple-bottom line of people, planet and profits. These companies are leading the charge in changing the way the world does business.”
