Since 2012, the Burger King McLamore Foundation has partnered with Room to Read to help bring the gift of quality education to children around the world. To date, the Burger King McLamore Foundation and the Burger King System have donated $2.7 million to Room to Read, which has allowed us to positively impact over 94,000 students in 113 schools. The Foundation has supported both Room to Read’s Literacy and Girls’ Education programs in seven countries including South Africa, India, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Tanzania and Zambia.
Our partnership with the Burger King McLamore Foundation and Burger King System has helped us expand the reach and impact of our work in countless ways. Thanks to our partnership, we’ve been able to publish five new local language books in India and South Africa. One of these local language books is called “The King of Mkolokolo” and was published for early readers in South Africa. It was so popular that it was later digitized in English and Siswati for even more children to enjoy.
Additionally, after the 2015 earthquakes in Nepal, the Burger King McLamore Foundation supported the rebuilding of Shree Suryamati Secondary School, one of Room to Read’s schools located in Nuwakot. Room to Read’s goal was to rebuild damaged infrastructure resulting from the catastrophic 2015 earthquake and to enhance school environments and improve local capacity to maintain the new school, which wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the Burger King McLamore Foundation.
Thank you to the Burger King McLamore Foundation and Burger King System for their continued support; together, we can continue to change the lives of children across the globe through the power of education. Donate today to triple your impact.
