As a Room to Read ambassador, the 12-year old singer from Hong Kong will participate in awareness raising and fundraising activities to advocate for Room to Read’s programs in literacy and gender equality, which enable students in low-income communities across Asia and around the world to reach their full potential and contribute to society.

“Before I could learn my first song, I had to be able to learn how to read. Literacy and a love of books allowed me to chase my dreams,”

said Celine Tam, during a virtual performance she recently gave for Room to Read investors. “I am proud to be a Room to Read ambassador and support the millions of children around the world who are imagining their own futures.”

Celine Tam began her singing career at the age of three with the support of her father, a voice coach. In 2017, Celine became the first contestant from Hong Kong and China to qualify for the semi-finals in Season 12 of America’s Got Talent and in 2019, was the youngest finalist in “World’s Got Talent”. She received two Golden Buzzers from the “Got Talent” judges. She has performed on television shows including “CCTV Spring Festival Gala” and “Community for the Chest TV Show”, and her performances have garnered hundreds of millions of views on YouTube.

Dr. Geetha Murali, CEO of Room to Read said, “Celine Tam is an example of what is possible when a young girl imagines and pursues a bright future for herself. She can transform her own life, her community and the world. We are proud to welcome Celine to the Room to Read family as an ambassador.
